Newborn and baby photography sessions are one of my favorite occasions, because I know there’s nothing quite like the celebration of a child. Having a baby is one of the most precious and amazing milestones you’ll reach in life. And capturing your baby’s first moments is something you’ll always cherish.

Babies give us so much more than we could ever imagine—new hopes, new worries, and a whole other level of love than we could ever have possibly imagined. These are feelings worth capturing and whether you decide to have a comfy in-home photoshoot or a styled shoot outdoors, capturing these different emotions is easy because the look a parent gives their baby is unlike anything else.

Babies have so much to share with the world. The most adorable toothless smiles, the most amazing scent, and the feeling of adoration to name a few—and I can’t wait to capture all that your little one brings. USE COZY PROPS

Because we can’t ask babies to pose, setting them up with cozy props is the perfect way to get them in a stylistic position. Consider posing your baby in a basket full of soft blankets, snuggled up on your bed, or in their precious baby bassinet.

TAKE MOMMY/DADDY & ME PORTRAITS

“Just when you think you know love, something little comes along to remind you just how big it really is.”

Becoming a parent is a moment in life you’ll never forget, and a part of your life that you will always be grateful for. Show off the love for your baby by including yourselves in some of the portraits at your session. Lucky for me, the love for your child shines through each photo effortlessly. But if you’re worried about how to pose, there are plenty of easy positions to choose from. Try simply looking down at baby while you hold them in your arms. Or, lay baby in between the two of you for a close-up, love-filled photo.

SHOW OFF THEIR SMILE

If your baby’s smile gets caught on film, I have no doubt it will be one of your favorite photos ever. To make that toothless smile appear, try giving them kisses or tickling their belly.

Remember—not all photos need to be planned. Some of the best moments caught on film are candid. So get comfortable, and just enjoy the time at your photo session. You’ll be amazed at how many priceless moments happen when you least expect them.
